What is domain name?
Domain names are used to identify one or more IP addresses. For example, the domain name microsoft.com represents about a dozen IP addresses. Domain names are used in URLs to identify particular Web pages.

What is a registrar?
A domain name registrar is an organization or commercial entity that manages the reservation of Internet domain names. A domain name registrar must be accredited by a generic top-level domain (gTLD) registry and/or a country code top-level domain (ccTLD) registry. The management is done in accordance with the guidelines of the designated domain name registries.

How do I renew my domain name?
Some Domain Providers will allow your domain to “auto-renew”.   This means that when the domain comes up for renewal, you do not have to go through the renewal procedure manually.   If domain is critical to your business, it is a very good idea to have the domain set to renew automatically each year.  You should contact your Domain Provider to discuss this option.

What if I forget to renew my domain name?
Within 1-36 days after the domain name expires the domain name will be removed from the name servers (DNS) which will interrupt any services such as Email, Website hosting, or URL Forwarding. For certain registries, approximately 36 days after the domain name expires it will enter into a redemption period for approximately 30 days. During the redemption period, you can still renew your domain name, but there is an additional redemption fee of $100.00 USD which includes a one year renewal. If the domain name is not redeemed during the redemption period, the domain name will be deleted by the registry and made available for registration.
